Although heavily bombed during World War II, Chania had regained its face fairly quickly. Today it is one of the most beautiful urban parts on the island. Many historic buildings have been restored and now houses hotels, shops, restaurants and bars. The town is a magnet of attraction even in winter – its picturesque web of narrow streets and authentic architecture make it a popular attraction.
